NEWS/UPDATES:
MySQL Control Panel Updated |
Easy Web-based Database Management
We have installed the newest update for our MySql database
control panel. If your site uses a MySql database, you'll
find many improvements. We've switched from http
authentication to cookies; this makes it easier to "remember
your login" and now you can logout completely without closing
the browser window.
A new query window
has been added to perform ad hoc queries and see the results
in a separate window. This makes it easier to keep the
database structure and info display open in the main browser
window.
The MySql database
control panel is still located at
http://phpmyadmin11.voicegateway.com .

TIPS:
Top 10 ways to avoid unsolicited email |
1. Keep your email address
private - treat it as your most prized possession. Only give
it out to trusted friends and associates.
2. Turn off "nobody" or "catchall" email processing. It may
be inconvenient, but turning them off will prevent someone
from sending mail to common addresses such as webmaster@yourdomain.com
or fake names such as xyzzy@yourdomain.com
3. Don't post your email address on your website. It's easy
for anyone to harvest email addresses from your web pages.
4. Don't use "mailto:" hyperlinks on your website. They are
easily harvested also.
5. Use email aliases - when you sign-up for newsletters,
login to websites, or do anything else on the net where your
email address is needed, create a unique alias each time.
6. Use throwaway email for public postings - if you frequent
chat rooms, bulletin boards, or public forums, use a
temporary or transient email address for posting.
7. Be careful with form script handlers. Most have your
email address in a "hidden variable" that is not really
hidden at all.
8. Start over - it may be your last resort, but change your
email address if you simply can't stop the flood of unwanted
junk.
9. Turn off your computer, or...
10. Use the anti-spam service from Voicegateway.com Web

| MARKETING
TIPS: Check your backyard |
It's easy to be fascinated
by the global reach of the Internet. When marketing
your website or service, don't ignore your local area.
Traditional marketing techniques of focusing on your own
local city or town work just as well or better for your
website.
You will find less
competition, more interest, and easier contact when you
market locally. Although getting high-ranking on
search engines may be too difficult or expensive nationally,
it is often a lot easier to raise your ranking when you
include your local city, town, or state as part of your
keyword strategy.
After all, if you deliver
your product or service primarily within your own area, you
really don't care about potential visitors from the other
side of the country or the globe. Conversely, your
competitors located far away will not have your expertise in
understanding the local community and the best way to reach
prospects in your area.
